Product Overview

In 2010, the Royal Canadian Mint marked the 100th anniversary of the Canadian navy. The silver dollar is double-struck in 0.925 sterling silver, with a frosted cameo finish and a near-flawless surface.

Cased Proof Silver Dollar Design
The coin features HMCS Sackville, the last surviving corvette and living memorial to the Royal Canadian Navy, its pennant number (K-181) clearly visible on its hull. Surrounding the design in Morse code is the Canadian navy's motto in both official languages: "Ready Aye Ready/Pret Oui Pret."

It was the Second World War that really brought Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) to fruition, and the HMCS Sackville was one of the original 1939–40 Flower Class corvettes ordered for the RCN. She was built at Saint John (New Brunswick) and entered service in December 1941. The corvette class, with 122 built in Canada by the war's end, had elevated the RCN to the third-largest navy in the world.
