Product Overview

This 50-cent 1/25-ounce pure gold coin celebrates the 150th anniversary of the 1864 Charlottetown and Quebec Conferences, where the blueprint for Canada to become its own country was worked out. This coin is a reinterpretation of Canada's 1964 commemorative silver dollar, and features a maple leaf with four floral symbols inside. At the top of the maple leaf is the French fleur-de-lis with the English rose beneath. On the left is the Irish shamrock and on the right is the Scottish thistle. The floral symbols represent the major European settler groups in the Canadian provinces at the time of Confederation. As a pure gold coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
