This four-piece limited collector edition gold maple leaf proof set was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1989 to mark the 10th anniversary of Canada's first gold maple leaf coin introduced in 1979. The set features all four weights and denominations that were issued at that time, including 1-oz, 1/2-oz, 1/4-oz and 1/10-oz gold coins. Unlike regular bullion coins, the coins in this set are double-struck with a near-flawless frosted proof finish. On the reverse side of all four coins, Canada's maple leaf shines as a symbol of pride, tolerance and unity, while the classic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse.
