Product Overview
This outstanding vintage gentleman's ring is fashioned with a signet presentation. The textured cushion-shaped top is engraved with a high-polished image of an eagle, wings spread to wrap around a 0.12-carat, white gold, bezel-set, Old-European-cut diamond located near the top. The eagle's talons seem to be grasping the initials "A. S." The band tapers in a ribbed pattern as it rounds the finger and the inside of the ring is engraved "1991." Antique old mine and old European-cut diamonds are commonly found in jewellery from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco Eras, spanning from the 1700s through the late 1800s. Diamonds from this time were cut by hand because the bruting machines we use today weren’t invented until the 1900s. It is interesting to note that the diamond in this ring appears to be much older than the ring, itself, which suggests that it was custom mounted at a later date.
Eagles represents honesty, truth, majesty, strength, determination, courage, wisdom, power and freedom. As they roam the sky, they are believed to have a special connection to God. Eagles also symbolize vitality and power as well as speed and greatness.
