Product Overview

This gorgeous 18K white gold Art Deco ring (circa 1930s) centres three Old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 carat in total with VS clarity and H-I colour. The diamonds are bead-set east-to-west in an oval surround with a pierced drape motif undergallery, accented by pierced and bead shoulders.

The Art Deco period spanned from 1915 to 1935 and provided the most popular engagement rings on the market for those looking for old cuts. Old European-cut diamonds were the precursor to today's modern round brilliant cut and had 58 facets and an open culet. Instead of coming to a point at the bottom, it is faceted with the smallest portion of the point cut off. They favour the dispersion of "fire" (multi-colour flashes of light from within) rather than sparkle or brilliance, and were cut with candlelight in mind.
