18K White Gold 10.96 Carat Oval Shaped Tanzanite and Diamond Ring

This magnificent 18K white gold ring is centered with a multi-prong 10.96 carat oval shaped, extra fine, loupe clean tanzanite, graded type 1. (Type 1 stones are relatively free from inclusions and generally have good clarity. They are known as “eye clean” meaning that you cannot see any inclusions or blemishes when viewed the naked eye.) Three prong-set round brilliant cut diamonds flank the stone on each side and are arranged in a pyramid formation. These six round brilliant cut diamonds combine for a half carat.

Found in just one place on earth, tanzanite is a relatively recent discovery. Tiffany & Co. named this blue-violet variety of zoisite in honor of Tanzania, where it was first unearthed in 1967. Because the crystals show different colours depending on the viewing direction, cutters can fashion gems with a wide range of colour, from violetish blue to bluish violet depending on how much weight they want to retain from the rough.
