Product Overview
These 18kt yellow gold earrings are both elegant and sophisticated. They are each centered with a 11.40mm to 11.60mm South Sea pearl displaying a light cream body colour with strong pinkish and greenish overtones. A stunning leaf-like display of prong-set diamonds wrap the perimeter and run 3/4's of the way around. Each earring features six leaves containing a total of twenty-nine round brilliant cut diamonds. Filling in the final 1/4 and completing the halo, are channel-set tapered baguette cut diamonds, eleven on one earring and twelve on the other for a combined total of twenty-three baguettes and .60 carats. Finally, an additional six diamonds, each graduating in size sweep from the bottom of the pearl to wrap around the base of the channel setting creating a most dramatic aesthetic. When all of the round brilliant cut diamonds are tallied, there is a combined total of seventy diamonds and .95 carats of VS to SI clarity and H-I colour. Add in the twenty-three baguette cut diamonds, and the final total diamond weight is an impressive 1.55 carats. The post is anchored near the top and an omega back hinges from the bottom providing stability and balance.
White and Golden South Sea pearls are the largest and most luxurious of all cultured pearl types on the market today. The South Sea pearl oyster, Pinctada can be either "silver-lipped" or "gold-lipped" varieties, and produces natural shades of white and gold respectively. 99% of all South Sea pearls undergo NO treatment of any kind other than a gentle washing and buffing after harvest and display a natural colour found nowhere else on Earth. Ranging in size from 8.0-20.0mm, with an average size ranging from 9.0-10.0mm through 14.0-15.0mm. Often called the “Queen of Pearls”, South Sea pearls feature a gorgeous palette of natural Golden and White colors that shimmer with delicate overtones and are simply unmistakable. South Sea pearls that are perfectly round are the most valuable and rare. South Sea pearls are nucleated using a perfectly round mother-of-pearl bead nucleus. Over the course of 2-3 years, the oyster continuously covers the interior bead nucleus with thousands of concentric layers of nacre and conchiolin, forming a pearl, hence the pearl is larger. South Sea pearls radiate a gorgeous “glow” that appears to emanate from within, rather than the harder “mirror-like shine” that Akoya pearls are famous for. Given the rarity of the oyster, cultivation and production costs are extremely high all contributing to the reason why South Sea Pearls are among the most expensive pearls in the market today.
