2024 Coronation Anniversary Proof Silver Dollar King Charles III

This special-edition proof silver dollar marks the first anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. The main design features the King's official coronation portrait taken by British photographer Hugo Burnand at Buckingham Palace following the ceremony on May 6, 2023. Surrounded by engraved maple leaves, the colour portrait shows His Majesty seated on a throne chair in full regalia, wearing the Imperial State Crown and the Robe of Estate, and holds the Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross and the Sovereign's Orb. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.

The coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023, was the first coronation of a Canadian head of state and sovereign in over seven decades, and for many Canadians, it was their first view of a ceremony that represents continuity, tradition and duty.
