Product Overview

This 2014 five-dollar denomination coin is part of a popular series of coins called "Flowers in Canada," and features a beautiful yellow rose. This unique series uses niobium to present the rose in striking colour. To create this coin, the Royal Canadian Mint has combined new and innovative minting technology with a classic flower image. The core of the coin is struck in pure niobium which has been naturally oxidized to refract light and create a vibrant yellow colour. This core is then encircled by a ring of bright pure silver with a proof finish to create a brilliant frame and a striking contrast to the naturally coloured centre. With a mintage of just 6,000, this unique coin is both a low-mintage collectible and a beautiful work of art. The word "Canada" and the denomination "5 dollars" is found along the rim of the coin.
